The Cleanser That Ruined My skin And The Cleanser That Saved It

The Cleanser That Ruined My skin And The Cleanser That Saved It

Hello everybody! I hope everyone has had a good week. I start school this week and I hope this semester I can keep trying to post. Last semester was very hectic and I put blogging on hold for a bit. So I’m always trying to new face cleansers. I’m still trying to find one that I want to stick to. Every once in a while I’ll find a cleanser that I really like and I’ll keep buying it. After a few months of using it my skin will change and then I need to find a new one. I recently had an experience where a face wash made my skin break really bad.

The cleanser that made me break out really bad was the Body Shop Tea Tree skin clearing facial wash. I love having tea tree in my hair products but I haven’t used it much on my face. I do like the tea tree toner from Lush. After using this face wash I kind of think that I had an allergic reaction to it. I don’t know if it was the tea tree or something else in the cleanser. My skin was so broken out and inflamed. I had no idea what was causing it so I decided to just start changing different things in my routine to figure it out. My first step was to change my face wash and I found out that is exactly what was causing my irritation.

I decided to pick up the Pacifica Kale Detox deep cleaning face wash. This face wash a miracle for my skin. I saw a huge difference in my skin overnight. There has never been another time where I have actually seen results so fast from a cleanser. After seeing that I completely stopped using the tea tree cleanser and have only been using the Pacifica one. My skin has been looking pretty nice lately. I think this is going to be a cleanser that I continue to buy.

Having the tea tree cleanser break out my skin really surprised me because I have heard great things about the Body Shop’s tea tree line. Personally, I don’t think that I’m going to try anything else in the line. Let me know what your experience is with this cleanser or any of the other tea tree products. I’m curious to see if anyone else has had the same experience as me. Well, I hope everyone has a great week and I hope your cleansers don’t break out your skin.

Empties| End Of 2017

Empties| End Of 2017

Since the year is finally over I’m going to talk about a bunch of products that I used up in the last half of 2017. I made a post in June about all the products that I used up in the first half. If you want to see those you can check it out here. I don’t think that I saved every product that I used up. Sometimes I just throw them away without thinking to save them. It seems like I have a pretty small amount of products this go around. Let’s get into the products!

L. Organic Tampons and Liners

This is a brand that I saw at Target. Apparently feminine products have all kinds of chemicals in them including chlorine, rayon, and fragrances. These tampons and liners are made without all of that. They’re mainly just organic cotton. I have really been enjoying them and they are not any more expensive than the other brands at Target. Also, the packaging is beautiful! I’m a sucker for good packaging. I would totally suggest checking this brand out here.

Garnier Moisture Bomb Sheet Masks

I’ve really fallen in love with these sheet masks. I’m not the biggest fan of sheet masks because they always seem to fall off my face. Garnier’s masks actually stay on and I really did see a difference in my skin right away. I’ve used much more than just this one. These masks are about $2.50 at Target.

Yes To Wipes

I went through plenty of different wipes this year and for some reason, I only saved these two. There really isn’t much to say about makeup wipes. These ones were great and I love this brand. I think you can get this brand pretty much anywhere. The smell of the primrose oil wipes was extremely nice.

Aveeno Conditoner

I’ve never seen Aveeno conditioners before but their lotion is really nice. The pure renewal conditioner was ok. Personally, it didn’t do much for my hair. Of course, everyone’s hair is different so this might work nicely for someone else. This is about $6 at Target.

Mascaras

The colossal big shot mascara was kind of a disappointment for me. I heard a lot of people talk about it so I thought it would be nice. It just didn’t do anything for my lashes. I would not buy again.

It cosmetic’s superhero mascara was pretty nice. It definitely gave my lashes length. This was a nice mascara. However, I think there are plenty of cheaper mascaras that do the same thing. One example is the one I’m going to talk about next.

Rimmel Londons scandal eyes retro glam mascara has become a staple mascara for me. I did buy this again and am very happy about it. This gives me both length and a little extra volume. I bought this mascara for around $4 at Ulta, but I’m looking on their website and I can’t find it now. They also sell it at Target and Walmart.

Boscia Detoxifying Cleanser

I’m glad that I only bought the small size of this. The cleanser did nothing for my skin and actually started to make me break out a little bit. It smells good and has a warming sensation. My friend who has drier skin than me tried it as well and didn’t like it either. I would not recommend.

ULTA Demi-Matte Foundation

Nobody ever talks about Ulta’s brand and it’s a little disappointing. Ulta really does have some nice products in their collection. This foundation is one of them. It’s very light coverage kind of like a BB cream. I do want to pick this up again.

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Detox Scrub

This ended up being one of my favorite products of 2017. This smells so nice and makes my skin feel so good! It’s also made with pretty good ingredients. I would really recommend checking this out!

Book Review: Adultolescence

Book Review: Adultolescence

Wow! It has been so long since I’ve posted on this blog. I really had to focus on school this semester so I decided that needed to come first. The good thing is that I have a lot of posts that I can do because they’ve kind of been building up. I hope you all have had a great past couple of months, and I hope that I can start posting more consistently again.

I recently finished a book called Adultolescence. This is a very different book for me to read because it is a poetry book. Adultolescence was written by Gabbie Hanna. If you watch YouTube or Vines then you might be familiar with the name TheGabbieShow. Her real name is Gabbie Hanna, which I think is a beautiful name. I’m not one to really gravitate towards poetry books but I love her so much that I thought I would give it a try. This book really changed my mind about poetry books and I want to get more now. Her poems are all about being that period in life where you’re transitioning from kid to adult. I really like that idea because I kind of feel like that is the part of my life that I’m in. While reading these poems I feel like I could really relate to some of them. Reading this book has made me want to try other poetry books. I know there are some really popular ones right now and maybe I’ll try those next. Unfortunately, I don’t really know what else to say about a poetry book but I think everyone should check this out. The cover is really pretty as well. I got this book at Barnes and Noble for about $17.

NYX Ultimate Warm Neutrals

NYX Ultimate Warm Neutrals

Wow! It has been a couple months since I have posted on here. I got so busy with school starting and also going through a couple other changes. I was on a pretty good posting schedule and hope to get back to it. I want to talk about this palette that I bought a while ago. I bought one of the NYX ultimate palettes. They come in a couple different colors and I got the warm neutrals shade. Each palette is about $18. I want to get the other shades as well. Very affordable and very good quality. NYX has always been a brand that very rarely disappoints me. All of the products that I’ve tried so far seem to be pretty good. I’ll show you guys some swatches and then give you my overall thoughts.

All of the colors have pretty good pigmentation. I’m surprised at how well the light colors swatch also. Once applied the colors also blend pretty well. Sometimes they blend away a little too easy, but I think I would rather have that than not blend out at all. I also really like the color selection in the palette. I feel like I can get a lot of different looks with this. There is also a good balance between mattes and shimmers. I hate when palettes have almost no mattes. The packaging is also fairly small so you could travel with it if you wanted. I definitely recommend this palette. Go pick it up!

June Favorites| 2017

Can you believe that it is already July?! Very soon I’ll be back in school for my last semester. I’ve been so relaxed with just having to work that I don’t want it to end. This month had a couple of exciting changes. I got bangs which I love. I pretty much had bangs all growing up and I wanted a hair change without going shorter. In the same week, I also got a Hamster. I have a female long haired Syrian hamster and her name is Zoidy. Zoidy is an unusual name that most people are confused by. Honestly, it’s because I wanted to name my hamster after Zoidberg from Futurama because I love that character. So I shortened it with just Zoidy. I love her so much and she’s just now getting comfortable with me holding her. She loves to explore and could probably spend hours in her ball if possible. I’m also going to be changing my Saturday posting day to Sunday because I rarely work Sundays. Anyway, I don’t have a whole lot but let’s talk about my favorites this month.

20170703_112957.jpg

Yes to Tomatoes Detox Charcoal Wipes- These wipes smell so good. They kind of smell like a light cologne. Also, the color of these wipes is black instead of the usual white. They aren’t the best probably if you have sensitive skin but I still love them. I got this at Target for $6.

L’Oreal Red Algae Pure-Clay Mask- I have been wanting to try these masks forever. This is the exfoliating and refining mask. I really like how soft my skin feels after I use it. My skin feels soft and looks healthy. I also got this at Target for $10.

NYX Ultimate Palette in Warm Neutrals- There aren’t a lot of warm colors in my makeup collection and I have been wanting some new shadows to play with. These eyeshadows are really easy to work with and really pigmented. I will for sure do a whole post for this soon. I just want to play around with it so far. I got this at Ulta for $18.

Favorite Show- American Dad. I know that is so random. I recently started it and it was so funny that I got hooked.

Favorite Song- Stay by Zedd and Alessia Cara. Please leave me music suggestions! I need some new stuff to listen to.

**I made a new Instagram account specifically for my blog! Make sure to click the link below and follow! I’ll be posting there so much more than my personal Instagram.**

May Favorites|2017

Hello, everybody! I hope you had a wonderful month. I’ve had a great time not going to school and transitioning into full-time work. I have tried a lot of new things this month and I want to share a few of the things that I am obsessed with!

20170603_114651

Sunglasses- I have no idea what brand these sunglasses are. I found them at Ross for $4 and I instantly fell in love. I feel so fierce when I wear them.

Target wallet- I have been needing a new wallet for the longest time. My previous wallet was so bulky. This is nice because it has a wrist strap so I don’t have to take my purse. My phone can even fit inside and I can clip my keys onto it. I got this for around $15.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundation- I have not tried anything in the fit me range before. I got the dewy and smooth finish because I have been very into that dewy look recently. I have combination skin and this does not make my face oily at all. This looks so nice on the skin and I don’t even feel the need to set it. The foundation still looks good at the end of the day. I bought this at Target in the shade Ivory for $6.

Garnier Fructis Damage Eraser Conditioner- My main shampoo and conditioner for my hair is the Yes to Tea Tree and Sage Oil for my dry scalp. I don’t like to use that conditioner throughout my hair because it can dry out my hair. So I use the tea tree one on my scalp and this one throughout the rest of my hair. This makes my hair shiny and soft. My hair is very damaged and I have been loving this! I got this at Target for $5.

Pacifica Cactus Water Makeup Wipes- I’ve recently got into using makeup wipes again so I’ve been trying all different kinds. These smell so good and are very soft! I also got these at Target for $6. (Can you tell I love Target?)

Recent Lip Purchases| 2017

Recent Lip Purchases| 2017

Hello, everybody! I hope your week thus far is amazing! Lipstick is one of my favorite makeup products and I wanted to share some that I’ve bought recently. I’ve been using all these products for a while so I’ll give you guys a mini review of each. Let me know if you have tried any of these products and which ones you like. Also, make sure to give me some suggestions of new products to try.

20170328_112323
swatches are in same order as lipsticks above

Bite Beauty-The perfect pair Amuse Bouche lipstick: These two bite beauty lipsticks came in a duo set. The first shade is called Thistle which is a purple taupe color. The one next to it is rhubarb which is a nice rose color. I really enjoy both these lipsticks. They sit nice on the lips and the colors are nice. I also enjoy the minty smell they have. I got this mini pair at Sephora for $15. There is another mini duo in the shades meringue and fig.

Lime Crime velvetine in faded: I have always wanted to try the lime crime velvetines but have heard bad things about ordering off their website. Lime crime ended up going on sale on Hautelook. If you don’t know what Hautelook is, it’s a Nordstrom-owned website that has flash sales. The velvetines were only $10 so I figure I could get one. I’m honestly a little disappointed, The first time I wore it, it was very sticky and a little patchy. I also feel like mine came not full. I would totally try another one but I’m gonna wait for them to come back on HauteLook. The shaded faded is very similar to Bite beauty in thistle. It’s not on HauteLook right now but you can still check this out on Lime Crime’s website.

Wet and Wild Liquid Catsuit in Pink Really Hard: I have heard amazing things about these liquid lipsticks! For some reason, I was really drawn to this bright pink color, which is not like me. I have to say that they hype is true with these. They feel nice on the lips and last a reasonable amount of time. It is a little patchy but could just be this color. I got this at Target for $4.99

E.L.F. gel lip stain in dewy berry- This lip stain is part of their aqua line and I love the blue lid. This lip stain is infused with rose water and vitamin E. So it should be really hydrating on the lips. I feel like this is actually pretty drying. But if you put some chapstick on throughout the day, it’s not too bad. The color is really nice for every day. I definitely want to get some more of these. I got this at Target for $3.99.

Too Faced Sweet Peach lipgloss in pure peach- I have wanted to try these for so long! For some reason, I am very drawn towards the mono color packaging. I used to hate lipgloss but wanted to try some better lipglosses. After trying these, I want to try more lipglosses. This is not very stick and is actually really hydrating. The color is really nice also. I dig the fake peach smell but other people may not like it. I really want the color, papa don’t peach. I got this at Sephora for $19.

Don’t forget to let me know if you’ve tried any of these. Also if you guys have any color suggestions for Lime Crime, let me know. Have a great week and I will see you Saturday!
