The Cleanser That Ruined My skin And The Cleanser That Saved It

The Cleanser That Ruined My skin And The Cleanser That Saved It

Hello everybody! I hope everyone has had a good week. I start school this week and I hope this semester I can keep trying to post. Last semester was very hectic and I put blogging on hold for a bit. So I’m always trying to new face cleansers. I’m still trying to find one that I want to stick to. Every once in a while I’ll find a cleanser that I really like and I’ll keep buying it. After a few months of using it my skin will change and then I need to find a new one. I recently had an experience where a face wash made my skin break really bad.

The cleanser that made me break out really bad was the Body Shop Tea Tree skin clearing facial wash. I love having tea tree in my hair products but I haven’t used it much on my face. I do like the tea tree toner from Lush. After using this face wash I kind of think that I had an allergic reaction to it. I don’t know if it was the tea tree or something else in the cleanser. My skin was so broken out and inflamed. I had no idea what was causing it so I decided to just start changing different things in my routine to figure it out. My first step was to change my face wash and I found out that is exactly what was causing my irritation.

I decided to pick up the Pacifica Kale Detox deep cleaning face wash. This face wash a miracle for my skin. I saw a huge difference in my skin overnight. There has never been another time where I have actually seen results so fast from a cleanser. After seeing that I completely stopped using the tea tree cleanser and have only been using the Pacifica one. My skin has been looking pretty nice lately. I think this is going to be a cleanser that I continue to buy.

Having the tea tree cleanser break out my skin really surprised me because I have heard great things about the Body Shop’s tea tree line. Personally, I don’t think that I’m going to try anything else in the line. Let me know what your experience is with this cleanser or any of the other tea tree products. I’m curious to see if anyone else has had the same experience as me. Well, I hope everyone has a great week and I hope your cleansers don’t break out your skin.

Empties| End Of 2017

Empties| End Of 2017

Since the year is finally over I’m going to talk about a bunch of products that I used up in the last half of 2017. I made a post in June about all the products that I used up in the first half. If you want to see those you can check it out here. I don’t think that I saved every product that I used up. Sometimes I just throw them away without thinking to save them. It seems like I have a pretty small amount of products this go around. Let’s get into the products!

L. Organic Tampons and Liners

This is a brand that I saw at Target. Apparently feminine products have all kinds of chemicals in them including chlorine, rayon, and fragrances. These tampons and liners are made without all of that. They’re mainly just organic cotton. I have really been enjoying them and they are not any more expensive than the other brands at Target. Also, the packaging is beautiful! I’m a sucker for good packaging. I would totally suggest checking this brand out here.

Garnier Moisture Bomb Sheet Masks

I’ve really fallen in love with these sheet masks. I’m not the biggest fan of sheet masks because they always seem to fall off my face. Garnier’s masks actually stay on and I really did see a difference in my skin right away. I’ve used much more than just this one. These masks are about $2.50 at Target.

Yes To Wipes

I went through plenty of different wipes this year and for some reason, I only saved these two. There really isn’t much to say about makeup wipes. These ones were great and I love this brand. I think you can get this brand pretty much anywhere. The smell of the primrose oil wipes was extremely nice.

Aveeno Conditoner

I’ve never seen Aveeno conditioners before but their lotion is really nice. The pure renewal conditioner was ok. Personally, it didn’t do much for my hair. Of course, everyone’s hair is different so this might work nicely for someone else. This is about $6 at Target.

Mascaras

The colossal big shot mascara was kind of a disappointment for me. I heard a lot of people talk about it so I thought it would be nice. It just didn’t do anything for my lashes. I would not buy again.

It cosmetic’s superhero mascara was pretty nice. It definitely gave my lashes length. This was a nice mascara. However, I think there are plenty of cheaper mascaras that do the same thing. One example is the one I’m going to talk about next.

Rimmel Londons scandal eyes retro glam mascara has become a staple mascara for me. I did buy this again and am very happy about it. This gives me both length and a little extra volume. I bought this mascara for around $4 at Ulta, but I’m looking on their website and I can’t find it now. They also sell it at Target and Walmart.

Boscia Detoxifying Cleanser

I’m glad that I only bought the small size of this. The cleanser did nothing for my skin and actually started to make me break out a little bit. It smells good and has a warming sensation. My friend who has drier skin than me tried it as well and didn’t like it either. I would not recommend.

ULTA Demi-Matte Foundation

Nobody ever talks about Ulta’s brand and it’s a little disappointing. Ulta really does have some nice products in their collection. This foundation is one of them. It’s very light coverage kind of like a BB cream. I do want to pick this up again.

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Detox Scrub

This ended up being one of my favorite products of 2017. This smells so nice and makes my skin feel so good! It’s also made with pretty good ingredients. I would really recommend checking this out!

NYX Ultimate Warm Neutrals

NYX Ultimate Warm Neutrals

Wow! It has been a couple months since I have posted on here. I got so busy with school starting and also going through a couple other changes. I was on a pretty good posting schedule and hope to get back to it. I want to talk about this palette that I bought a while ago. I bought one of the NYX ultimate palettes. They come in a couple different colors and I got the warm neutrals shade. Each palette is about $18. I want to get the other shades as well. Very affordable and very good quality. NYX has always been a brand that very rarely disappoints me. All of the products that I’ve tried so far seem to be pretty good. I’ll show you guys some swatches and then give you my overall thoughts.

All of the colors have pretty good pigmentation. I’m surprised at how well the light colors swatch also. Once applied the colors also blend pretty well. Sometimes they blend away a little too easy, but I think I would rather have that than not blend out at all. I also really like the color selection in the palette. I feel like I can get a lot of different looks with this. There is also a good balance between mattes and shimmers. I hate when palettes have almost no mattes. The packaging is also fairly small so you could travel with it if you wanted. I definitely recommend this palette. Go pick it up!

Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser-  I told the lady at Sephora that I needed a new cleanser that wasn’t super expensive and she immediately ran over to this. The full-size bottle is $30 but I bought this travel size for $10. This cleanser has a gel consistency which I love and it warms up once you start rubbing it on your face. So far I am loving it and I think I am going to end up buying the full size. You can check it out here.

Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara- This was an impulse buy in the Ulta check-out lane but I ended up loving it. It curls my lashes and keeps them curled throughout the day. This is $8 at Ulta.

NYX Duochromatic highlighters- I have the shades snow rose and twilight tint. Snow rose has a pinky shift and twilight tint has a blue shift. I have been wanting to try some funky colored highlighters and I have loved these. I think next I want to get the Kat Von D alchemist palette. If you want to check out these NYX highlighters you can click here.

Alba Botanica Hawaiian Detox Scrub- This smells so good! To me, it honestly smells like Coca-Cola. I also think this scrub has been helping my body acne. I bought this at Target.

Super Cola Candy- These are kind of like a warhead. They start off sour but then it’s a sweet cola candy. I have been eating these so much. I found them at world market.

Song of the month- Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato

Show of the month- Handmaid’s tale

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Quad

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Quad

Hello, everybody! I hope you all are having a fabulous week so far! I’ve been on vacation this week so I’ve just been relaxing. The other day I took a trip to Sephora to get my birthday gift and picked up a few things as well. I picked up one of the Kat Von D eyeshadow quads because they’re only $22. They come in 3 colors: plum, rust, and sage. I just bought the warm neutrals palette from NYX and I have a couple green colors, so I decided to get plum. There aren’t really any purple shades in my collection so this is a good edition. I think eventually I would love to get the other two. These palettes are great for travel. You can get a couple of simple looks out of the palette.  Another thing I love is the packaging. Kat Von D always has great packaging. I’ll show you some pictures and give you my pros and cons on the palette.

Pros:

-Pigmentation is great

-easy to blend

-can get a couple looks

-small packaging

-base color can be used as a blush

Cons:

– the two dark colors can sometimes look the same once blended out

-highlight shade doesn’t really show up on my skin tone that well

L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask| Exfoliating and Refining

L’Oreal Pure Clay Mask| Exfoliating and Refining

Hi, Everybody! I hope everyone had a wonderful week. Today I wanted to talk about a face mask that I have been enjoying. It is on of the L’Oreal pure-clay masks. I picked up the exfoliating and refining mask with red algae. Lately, I’ve been feeling like my skin has been on the dry side so I like the exfoliation. All the masks in this line are made with 3 different kinds of clay. It doesn’t really say anywhere what those clays are. I wish that they made it more obvious on the packaging somewhere of what the clays are. Each different mask is enhanced with something. The one I picked up is enhanced with red algae extract. They also have masks that are enhanced with charcoal and another one enhanced with eucalyptus. L’Oreal has only advertised these 3 in the line but I noticed on their website they have another one that’s blue. The blue one is enhanced with seaweed. I would like to get all of the masks in the line. Apparently, in the red one, the exfoliant is volcanic rock which is pretty cool.

L’Oreal Claims

-“addresses rough skin and deep clogged pores”

– “polished pore-minimized, smooth complexion”

-“refined and smooth skin”

-“imperfections are less visible”

What I’ve noticed

-love the packaging

-skin does look smooth and healthy

-does not help my acne or my pores

So I was a little disappointed that this didn’t do much in terms of cleaning out my pores. However, I do enjoy how healthy my skin looks after I use it. I definitely want to try the other masks and see how wells those work. To be honest I probably won’t buy this one again once it’s empty. I’m sure I can find a mask that makes my skin look and feel the same and also cleans out my pores. Let me know if you guys have had any experiences with these masks and what you feel. If you want to check out the line you can click here. Each mask is about $13. Thank you for hanging out with me and I hope you all have a wonderful week!

Some Disappointing Products

Some Disappointing Products

Hello, everybody! I hope you all are having a wonderful week. Yesterday was the 4th of July, which means we set off a lot of fireworks and ate a lot of food. It was a great day off from work but now it’s back to the real world. Anyway, I have some products that I’ve used that straight up disappointed me. 20170705_113921.jpg

Ulta Contour Trio- This was the very first thing that I bought when I decided to try contouring. The darkest shade isn’t too bad. The other two don’t have any pigmentation at all. I used it for a while until I got some better highlighters and contouring products. There’s actually a lot of Ulta brand products that I like but this is not one of them.

Ulta Lip Sugar Scrub- The sugar in this scrub is almost nonexistent. That’s all there really is to say about it. It didn’t scrub my lips at all.

E.L.F. Concealer Palette- The color correcting shades in this work really well. I realized that I don’t really like color correcting. It feels like an unnecessary step. The concealer shades are terrible. They don’t conceal all the well and feel heavy on the skin. I love E.L.F. but just not this palette.

Urban Decay Retractable Lipstick Brush- This brush came in the Vice Lipstick Palette. I love this palette and if you want to see my review on it, you can click here. The bristles on this brush completely fell off. I don’t know if it was the way I was cleaning it but I was kind of mad that it fell apart on me.

Pacifica Eyeshadow in Ethereal- I got this eyeshadow in an Ipsy package a very long time ago. It has no pigmentation. It disappears once it’s put on the lid. I’ve heard from other people that Pacifica’s makeup isn’t the best. I enjoy their skincare line though.
