Sephora and Ulta Birthday Gifts| 2017

Sephora and Ulta Birthday Gifts| 2017

Hello! I recently switched my posting to schedule to Sundays but yesterday was my birthday. I decided to just relax and post today instead. Since yesterday was my birthday I got my birthday goodies from Sephora and Ulta. For Ulta’s gifts, each quarter gets a different gift. For July, August, and September the gift is a NYX birthday palette. I heard a rumor that the last quarter also gets the palette but don’t take my word for it. I was really excited for this palette because I think this is one of the best gifts I’ve ever received from Ulta. The first two-quarters kind of got gypped. The first quarter got a sample size of the porefessional. Which is cool but I feel like everyone has received a sample of that at this point. The second quarter got a sample size mascara. With Sephora, everyone has the opportunity to receive the same gift. There’s a choice between a makeup gift and a skin care gift. I chose the makeup gift.

The Sephora gift is a Tarte makeup set. I haven’t tried either of these products so I was really excited to try them out. The Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in the shade paaarty. The Tarteist creamy matte lip paint is in the shade birthday suit. I love both of the shades and both of the products. The blush does actually last a long time and so does the lipstick. The lipstick is also very comfortable. Now onto the palette.

For the most part, I really enjoy this palette. It has pretty good pigmentation. The lighter shades don’t show up that well. The blend-ability is good also. I like the shades that they chose and the green color is different than any other greens in my collection. I’m really excited to see what different looks I can create with this palette.

Makeup I Bought In December

Makeup I Bought In December

20170103_124433

Throughout December I decided to pick up drugstore items that I had been wanting to try. I would pick up one thing, and then a week later go back and pick up a few more things. So I’ve tried everything out and want to do a mini review on each product. Let me know of any products that you guys love so I can try it.

E.L.F HD powder in soft luminance-  I briefly talked about this in my December favorites which you can check out here. I think this powder is really nice. Lately, my face has been looking really cakey with makeup on. I thought it was this powder at first. This morning all I put on was some concealer and then the powder on top, and it didn’t look cakey. The cakey look must be coming from my foundations. They’re both pretty old so I don’t know if that happens. Also, my skin has been pretty irritated lately.

E.L.F exfoliating stick- I have a couple lip scrubs in pots that I don’t really like. I feel like I can’t get a good exfoliation with them. I like this stick because it’s mess free and really easy to use. I got the scent in sweet cherry, but it smells like nothing.

E.L.F. HD lifting concealer- This concealer is nice but it isn’t really anything special. I have it in the shade light but it is not light enough. It ends up looking ok on the skin once blended out. The only shades they have are fair, light, and medium. Not the best color range.

NYX suede lip liner- I have the NYX liquid suede lipstick in brooklyn thorn which is a gray/purple color. NYX is one of the only makeup companies that actually has lip liners that match and have the same names as their lipsticks. I just wish this was a twist up pencil.

NYX HD blush in bitten- I also mentioned this in my December favorites. I love this blush and I want more colors. This is a nice brick red color and I totally recommend it.

Essence pure nude highlighter- This is a really nice natural highlight. It is a bit too dark for me and pretty much blends in. Even though it blends in there is some of a glow there. Right now I’m having a love-hate relationship with this highlighter.

Rimmel lip liner in red diva- Believe it or not, this is my very first lip liner ever! I used to not really ever see the point of lip liners. Then I realized how bad I am at putting on lipstick. It can be hard to put it on clean. The lip liner really helps. I started off with a plain red one because I have a couple red lipsticks.

Swamp Queen

Swamp Queen

Grav3yard girl (a.k.a Bunny) is by far my favorite YouTuber. I have been watching her from the beginning and she’s actually the one who got me addicted to YouTube. I watch it more than anything. She is the most genuine person and has such a sweet personality. When she announced her collaboration with Tarte I weirdly felt like a proud parent. I knew that I was going to get this palette one way or another. This Swamp Queen palette was extremely hard to get my hands on. It was sold out everywhere and people would wait outside shops in the morning waiting for them to restock. Finally, one day I went to Sephora and they had one left in the drawer! I was so happy, I think I might have screamed a little. This is amazing and I have been reaching for it almost every time I do my makeup. It comes with a highlight, blush, bronzer, and 9 eyeshadows. I’ll show some pictures and go through each color. The swatches don’t do the colors much justice. They do look  better once applied on the eyes.

Gator wings- This is the highlight in the palette and it is very glittery. I mostly use it for inner corners and don’t like it so much on the face.

Does this thing really work?- The blush shade and it is a very nice color on the skin. There is so shimmer in this one also.

Sweet tea- This is the bronzer and I almost never use this shade. It’s too orangey for my taste but I will occasionally use it.

#SFS- This is a shimmery baby pink and I usually use this as a lid color.

Natural Peaches- This is exactly the name; a peachy color. I will use this for the crease.

Dogman- This is a copper/red and is one of my favorite colors in the set. I use this for the outer corner

Big Baby- This is a matte white shade. I don’t use it often as I don’t feel it does much for my eyes.

Sassy Bun- A shimmery gold that is great for the lid.

Sippy Sippy- This is a very unique color. It is a deep brown with yellow shimmer in it and it is also great for the outer corner.

Haunting- I want to describe this color as a lavender but it’s not quite a lavender. I guess it’s just a light purple great for the crease.

Uncommon- This looks darker in the pan but is also kind of a lightish purple that’s great for the lid.

Mancat- This is my other favorite color in the set. It’s a deep purple color and is great for the outer corner.

Let me know if you guys have tried this palette and how you like it. Also let me know if any of you have tried the lip paints that she created.

Grav3yard Girl Tarte Swamp Queen Palette- I have been watching Bunny on YouTube for years and I was very excited to get my hands on this. It comes with 9 eyeshadows, a blush, a bronzer, and a highlight. I have been reaching for this pretty much everytime I do my makeup. On Tuesday I plan on doing an actual post about this so stay tuned for that.

Yes Please by Amy Poehler- Amy Poehler is someone that I look up to so much! Parks and recreation is my favorite show of all time. She is also probably my favorite comedian. Her style of writing is exactly the type of writing I like. It’s very casual like she’s having an actual conversation with the reader and of course lots of humor. I have so many books that I’m trying to read right now.

Fortune Cookie Soap- I received this soap from a friend for my birthday which is awesome because I’ve been wanting to try this out for a while. I’m not sure which scent this is but it smells like strawberries to me. This is one of those companies that makes their products with all natural ingredients. I will definitely be ordering from them again. If you want to check them out you can click here.

Amazon Fire Tablet- I received this for my birthday as well and I love it. It’s so nice and small which means it’s easy to lay in bed with. I’ve completely stopped watching Netflix on my computer and only watch it on my tablet now. This cost around $50 and you can check it out on Amazon.

New Shoes- I needed some yellow shoes because I’m a bridesmaid for a best friends wedding and I found these at payless. They were around $35 and I love them. There’s not much else to say about these.

Favorite Show- Stranger Things: You need to watch this show! It is on Netflix and it is amazing. There are only 8 episodes right now and I am so sad that we have to wait a year for the next season. There is also all kinds of 80’s awesomeness happening in this show.

Favorite Song- Don’t Mind by Kent Jones

Mid 2016 Empties

Mid 2016 Empties

When I am on YouTube I love watching empty product videos. So I thought, ” Why don’t I do something like that?” This post is all the empty products that I have finished this point in the 2016 year.

mid 2016 emptiesBiore Baking Soda Pore Cleanser

This is the liquid version of the baking soda face cleansers. I also have the powder one and I don’t really know what the difference is supposed to be between these two products. The liquid version actually really dried out my skin but the powder version hasn’t. I think this could be because the liquid version has sulfate in it. I will not be repurchasing this.

Maybelline Master Hi-Light Highlighting Bronzer

I bought this when I was first diving into the world of bronzers. It wasn’t just a straight bronzer color. It had colors of pink and highlighting colors included in it. This is really great if you don’t want to actually apply bronzer, blush, and highlight. You can just put this on with one swipe and it’s a great alternative to that. I would repurchase this product.

Ulta Matte Primer

How come nobody talks about Ulta’s line of makeup? They have some great products in their line with this being one of them. One thing that I love about this is that it has salicylic acid which is good for acne. The formula is kind of a gel formula which is something that I don’t particularly like but it makes my foundation stay on all day. I will be repurchasing this.

Ulta Amped Lashes

This mascara is supposed to give you really amped lashes which it does do. However, this product is clumpy and smudges under my eyes by the end of the day. I would not repurchase this.

Tarte Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment

I got this in a set with the maracuja oil which I just featured in my favorites. This eye cream is not something that I like. First off, it is really pricey. Second of all, I did not see a difference in my eyes at all. I will not be repurchasing. Let me know if you guys have an eye cream that you like because I am on the hunt for one that really works.

Lush Tea Tree Toner Water

This is actually already a repurchase but I haven’t mentioned it in a while. This is great for keeping my oil at bay throughout the day. If you have oily skin you need to try this toner. I also love that it’s in a spray bottle so I don’t have to get out a cotton pad. I will be repurchasing again.

93,000 Miles and Whoosh Shower Jellies

I’m grouping these two products together because they’re both shower jellies but different scents. The Lush shower jellies are so much fun and everybody needs one of these in their life. Both of these scents are great and I would repurchase both. I want to try all the scents so I think I’m going to get the pine and needle scent next.

Garnier Micellar Water

Micellar water is an amazing way to remove makeup. It takes off makeup with no problem. This does leave an oily residue but I always wash my face after so I kind of ignore that. I have already repurchased this and I still love it.

Bath and Body Works Wild Apple Daffodil

There isn’t much to say about this lotion. I think everybody pretty much knows that the bath and body works lotions are pretty good lotions. Their normal lotions are all pretty much the same lotion just in different scents. I would not repurchase this scent again, though. It was pretty boring in my opinion. Their pink lemonade scent is my favorite right now.

May Favorites

May Favorites

I really need to start trying to stick to my posting schedule. If you don’t know, I try to post Tuesday and Saturday. Obviously, I’m not succeeding at this right now but I’m trying. I don’t really have a lot of favorites this month but I have been loving these few things.

Pantene 3 minute miracle conditioner

While walking through Walmart this conditioner caught my eye. It’s like a daily hair mask. The first week I used it I didn’t like it so much. It didn’t seem like it was doing anything for my hair. As I’ve used it more I have noticed a huge difference in my hair! My hair is so soft and shiny. They have a couple different ones depending on what you want it to do to your hair. I meant to pick up the one for damaged hair but I accidentally picked up the one for frizzy hair. I have a bit of frizzy hair and it definitely has helped with that.

Stuff you should know podcast

I’m not joking when I say that I’ve pretty much stopped listening to music in the car. This podcast is so interesting. They pick a different subject for each podcast and just talk about it and interesting facts about it. I would totally recommend it. It is both on iTunes and Google Play.

Wet n’ Wild Color Icon Blush

I talked about this blush not too long ago when I did a review on some drugstore products I bought this. This blush is so pigmented and a really nice pink color. A little bit goes a long way with this and it lasts all day. If you wanna read my reviews on some of the other products I picked up you can click here.

May Coop Raw Sauce

I was standing in line at Sephora and was looking at the little things they have by the checkout. I saw this thing called raw sauce. I have never heard of anything like this before. It’s supposed to make it easier for your serums to absorb into your skin. I don’t really use serum, but it does help my oil I use absorb better. The oil doesn’t sit on top of my face as much. This was $18 at sephora.

Go ahead and let me know what your favorite products were this month so I can try them. If you’re not already go ahead and follow me on twitter and instagram so I can get to know you guys better. Have a great day!

Drugstore Update!

Drugstore Update!

Two weeks ago I bought a few new products at walgreens and if you want to check that post out you can click here. I have been using these products every single time I do my makeup. So I am going to go through each product and what I thought of it.

Wet n Wild Megaglo Contouring Palette

I really liked this product. I’m super new to contouring so if anything went wrong, it was my fault. Both of the shades are pretty creamy and don’t get cakey at all. The highlighter is actually really good for setting concealer. For the small price this product is totally worth it.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush

This blush is so PINK! The shade I picked was pearlescent pink but I didn’t expect it to actually be so pink when I put it on. The tiniest amount is need for this blush and it stays on all day. I found this to be really blendable, so if I put on a little too much, it turned out ok.

Covergirl Trublend Face Primer

I love this face primer! One of the best things about it is that it’s for combination skin so it really helps to keep my face matte all day. I also found that it works nice as a lip primer. One downside is that it smells like baby wipes but I can look past that.

Covergirl Trublend Fixstick Concealer

This concealer is pretty good and I’ll continue to use it. It smells waxy and feels waxy but it doesn’t feel heavy or gross. I really like this for under my eyes except that it really settles into my lines. It is so blendable, which is so important to me. I think I’m going to try putting a little extra primer under my eyes to see if that helps.

Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Pencil

Overall, I’m pretty disappointed with this. When I first put it on I was so excited because it goes on so smoothly. After only an hour it had transferred to the top of my lid. So then I tried putting eye primer underneath, and it transferred a little less but still transferred. I can’t figure out how to make it stop. Let me know if I’m doing something wrong?

Also, let me know if you have tried any of these and what you thought of them.
