Hello, everybody! I hope you had a great week. My week has been busy with a lot of studying. I recently learned about a company called AUrate New York. They are a jewelry company and all the jewelry is handmade and ethically sourced. If you want to learn more about them and their mission you can check it out here.
What I really like about this company is that they’ve partnered with Philadelphia schools. For every piece of jewelry sold they donate a book to a child in need. This is super important to me because books are an amazing thing for every child to have. I loved reading as a child and still do. If you click here you can read more about their effort which they call A Book for You Look.
AUrate New York is running a campaign for women to show how they incorporate jewelry into a day to night look. This idea intrigued me because I’ve been wanting to start incorporating fashion posts in my blog. My definition of a day to night look is having one staple piece that you can just change the accessories around quickly. For my staple piece, I chose a simple black dress. I’m going to show you my day and night look with the dress. I’m also going to show you some of the jewelry that I like from AUrate New York that I think would go well with each of the looks.
I really like to be comfortable during the day so sneakers and a flannel are definitely the way to go. For the necklace, I chose the black stones choker from AUrate.
For my night look, I like to be a little more dressed up. The flannel was changed to a blazer. The sneakers were changed to some cute booties. The earrings I chose the icon earrings in white gold.
Let me know how you guys put together your day to night look. I would love some more tips on how to expand my wardrobe. Be sure to check out AUrate New York and all their beautiful jewelry.
Hello, Everybody! I hope your week was amazing. I have recently started to drink more water because I know that I do not drink enough. For the past month or so I have started drinking a mixture of things in my water. My mixture is a spoonful of agave, a spoonful of apple cider vinegar, and 15 drops of chlorophyll concentrate. Once a day I drink this all mixed into a glass of water. It surprisingly tastes really good. It’s really sweet and the chlorophyll I bought has a peppermint taste to it. The agave is mostly in there just to sweeten it up a little. I also prefer agave over honey and the agave has a lower glycemic index. However, honey has a little more health benefits than agave. So if you would prefer the other benefits then I would say go with honey but I’m just gonna stick with my agave. Now the other two ingredients I actually use for the health benefits and I’ll get into each one.
Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar
- lowers blood sugar
- helps you feel full (especially helpful if you drink before each meal)
- lowers cholesterol
- reduces risk of heart disease
- balances pH
Benefits of Chlorophyll
- skin benefits
- supposedly helps with detoxification (I’m a little wary of things claiming to be “detoxifying”)
- improves digestion
I totally suggest trying this mixture. I have noticed a difference in my skin and my bloating with this mixture. To be honest it also just tastes really good. Let me know if you guys have any specific health mixture you like to drink.
Wow! It has been a couple months since I have posted on here. I got so busy with school starting and also going through a couple other changes. I was on a pretty good posting schedule and hope to get back to it. I want to talk about this palette that I bought a while ago. I bought one of the NYX ultimate palettes. They come in a couple different colors and I got the warm neutrals shade. Each palette is about $18. I want to get the other shades as well. Very affordable and very good quality. NYX has always been a brand that very rarely disappoints me. All of the products that I’ve tried so far seem to be pretty good. I’ll show you guys some swatches and then give you my overall thoughts.
All of the colors have pretty good pigmentation. I’m surprised at how well the light colors swatch also. Once applied the colors also blend pretty well. Sometimes they blend away a little too easy, but I think I would rather have that than not blend out at all. I also really like the color selection in the palette. I feel like I can get a lot of different looks with this. There is also a good balance between mattes and shimmers. I hate when palettes have almost no mattes. The packaging is also fairly small so you could travel with it if you wanted. I definitely recommend this palette. Go pick it up!
Hello, Everybody! I hope you are having a great weekend. Today I wanted to talk about my study tips. I am in my last semester of college and I feel like I am just now getting the hang of studying. It has always been something that I struggled with. Studying is so important and should not be ignored. So here’s my most important study tips.
1. Find the technique that works for you
Everybody studies differently. Most people used to tell me that you should study for a long time and then take a short break. To be honest that does not work for me. I have to study for a small amount of time and have a break for a small amount of time. What works for somebody else is not necessarily going to work for you. I suggest just trying different techniques and finding the one you like the most.
2. Snacks! Snacks! Snacks!
I don’t think I could survive studying without snacks. I always make sure to have water, another flavored drink, and maybe some candy or fruit. For some reason when I study I really craving refreshing things like fruit. Having snacks already ready is good too so that you don’t have to get up in the middle of studying to get some.
3. Make a playlist
Most of the people I know like to have some sort of background noise when they study. I actually let youtube videos play in the background. Another thing I like to do is make playlists to have. I usually like to have motivating music or music that I can kind of sing to.
4. DON’T PROCRASTINATE
This is literally the most important tip out there. I procrastinate at everything. Sometimes I actually get things done in a timely manner. When I actually have things done, it feels so nice. It feels so nice not to stress to rush. So just try really hard not to procrastinate.
School is just around the corner! I start school on the 28th and it is my last semester of college. After having gone through all these years of college I have learned what is the most important to keep on you at all times. I’m not going to elaborate too much on everything because it’s pretty straight forward, but I show you what I like.
- of course the most important is your school supplies. I have five-star notebooks and folders. Highlighters are great for when your teacher gives you hints to what might be on the test. The pencil bag I’m using is actually an Ipsy back from Halloween. Then inside that is just pens and pencils. pretty boring.
- Lip balm is so important! That little tube by the highlighters is the yes to coconut lip oil. I’ve really been enjoying this lip oil that is not greasy. Along with lip balm, you need hand sanitizer, lotion, deodorant. I personally like the bath and body works hand sanitizers because they have so many different scents.
- Lens cleaning wipes are another great thing to have. You can use them to clean your glasses, phone, or computer.
- A portable charger is perfect if you are a commuter. I got this one for $5 at Target, which is a great deal.
- Having a planner has always been important to me. Some people don’t use planners and some do. It just really depends on the person. I’ve been enjoying the badass planner for this year.
- Last, but not least, is a laptop. I have a Chromebook which isn’t the best laptop but it was very affordable. This laptop does everything that I need it to do and that’s what matters.
Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser- I told the lady at Sephora that I needed a new cleanser that wasn’t super expensive and she immediately ran over to this. The full-size bottle is $30 but I bought this travel size for $10. This cleanser has a gel consistency which I love and it warms up once you start rubbing it on your face. So far I am loving it and I think I am going to end up buying the full size. You can check it out here.
Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara- This was an impulse buy in the Ulta check-out lane but I ended up loving it. It curls my lashes and keeps them curled throughout the day. This is $8 at Ulta.
NYX Duochromatic highlighters- I have the shades snow rose and twilight tint. Snow rose has a pinky shift and twilight tint has a blue shift. I have been wanting to try some funky colored highlighters and I have loved these. I think next I want to get the Kat Von D alchemist palette. If you want to check out these NYX highlighters you can click here.
Alba Botanica Hawaiian Detox Scrub- This smells so good! To me, it honestly smells like Coca-Cola. I also think this scrub has been helping my body acne. I bought this at Target.
Super Cola Candy- These are kind of like a warhead. They start off sour but then it’s a sweet cola candy. I have been eating these so much. I found them at world market.
Song of the month- Sorry Not Sorry by Demi Lovato
Show of the month- Handmaid’s tale
Hello! I recently switched my posting to schedule to Sundays but yesterday was my birthday. I decided to just relax and post today instead. Since yesterday was my birthday I got my birthday goodies from Sephora and Ulta. For Ulta’s gifts, each quarter gets a different gift. For July, August, and September the gift is a NYX birthday palette. I heard a rumor that the last quarter also gets the palette but don’t take my word for it. I was really excited for this palette because I think this is one of the best gifts I’ve ever received from Ulta. The first two-quarters kind of got gypped. The first quarter got a sample size of the porefessional. Which is cool but I feel like everyone has received a sample of that at this point. The second quarter got a sample size mascara. With Sephora, everyone has the opportunity to receive the same gift. There’s a choice between a makeup gift and a skin care gift. I chose the makeup gift.
The Sephora gift is a Tarte makeup set. I haven’t tried either of these products so I was really excited to try them out. The Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in the shade paaarty. The Tarteist creamy matte lip paint is in the shade birthday suit. I love both of the shades and both of the products. The blush does actually last a long time and so does the lipstick. The lipstick is also very comfortable. Now onto the palette.
For the most part, I really enjoy this palette. It has pretty good pigmentation. The lighter shades don’t show up that well. The blend-ability is good also. I like the shades that they chose and the green color is different than any other greens in my collection. I’m really excited to see what different looks I can create with this palette.
